When the 2026 Most Wanted Game-Improvement Iron results came out, I was glad to see some more affordable options near the top of the rankings. But a good price only matters if the iron is built for your game.
The collaboration comes at a pivotal time for both brands. One in which PAYNTR Golfcontinues to steal market share away from the big dogs in the footwear space, just as Bad Birdie is eating up market share in the apparel space.
One of my favorite things about watching PGA Tour players in a casual setting is trying to catch the little things they say without realizing how useful they are.

A Quick Style Note From Shinnecock
Iโm on the ground at Shinnecock this week for the US Open and one thing has become abundantly clear: the lightweight golf sweater is the star of the show. โ Tuesdayโs practice round was sunny, windy and chilly in an unmistakably coastal way. As the winds whipped across the treeless course from Great Peconic Bay, even though the high was around 72, it felt cooler than that for much of the day. Shinnecock offers no protection from the elements. Like death and taxes, Mother Nature is no respecter of persons. โ So, I came prepared. To my delight, so too did players and fans alike. I proudly wore a lightweight cashmere crew, and it was perfect. I was warm when the wind picked up and still completely comfortable when it settled down. Because cashmere is an organic material, itโs made to keep you warm when needed and cool you down when needed. Merino wool works the same way. โ Thatโs the thing people seem to forget about a good lightweight sweater. Wearing one does not mean youโre doomed to sweat and discomfort if you get too warm. Take this for a novel idea:: you can always take the sweater off. โ There were plenty of traditional crewneck sweaters walking around Shinnecock during Tuesdayโs practice round, and they looked exactly right for the setting. Coastal, elevated, and most importantly, dressed appropriately for the weather. Thatโs the lesson. Keep a lightweight crewneck or v-neck with you. On the course and off the course. On a cool evening. Over a polo. In the car. In your travel bag. Wherever. Need to dress up a polo shirt on a chilly night? Crewneck. Need an extra layer when the wind picks up on the back nine? Crewneck. Heading somewhere after the round and want to look a little more put together? Crewneck. โ You get the ideaโฆ A simple, elegant, lightweight sweater can take an ordinary outfit and make it look intentional. It can also be one of the most useful pieces you own because, as this week at Shinnecock has reminded me, you end up needing it far more often than you think. โ Sometimes the smartest thing you can wear is the thing golfers have been wearing forever.
